OUR VISION FOR PORTSMOUTH:

"To promote the positive growth and well-being of our community through open, reasoned, and courteous communication with our citizens, to improve the quality of life in Portsmouth"

OUR PLATFORM IS INFORMAL AND EMBRACES OUR PHILOSOPHY AND VALUES WITH THE FOLLOWING BELIEFS:

  1. We believe in honest and open government/leadership processes;
  2. We believe in a positive outlook on the future of our community; promoting continuous improvement and healthy, well managed growth;
  3. We believe in a balanced perspective on the needs of our town with the understanding that our constituency is the entire community; and
  4. We believe in an appreciation for the long-term value that comes from careful planning, prudent fiscal management, and investment in community infrastructure.

WITH YOUR HELP AND OUR ACTIONS TO COMPLETE OUR VISION YES WE CAN

  1. Further develop a funding plan to give additional tax relief to elderly citizens of the town;
  2. Continue to demand a more equitable state aid formula for education in the State of Rhode Island that will give a larger share of Portsmouth’s tax dollars back to the Town and to further seek grants and funding to enhance our Town and School budgets;
  3. Continue to work with the Portsmouth School Committee to develop a reasonable and affordable educational spending plan;
  4. Continue the preservation of our open spaces and develop alternative energy sources for the benefit of present and future generations;
  5. Further the development of Sandy Point, Melville Campgrounds, the Glen, and other areas of Portsmouth for the benefit of all Portsmouth citizens;
  6. Support and guide the work of the Economic Development Committee to promote growth of additional commercial revenue, i.e. support and guidance for the West Side Development concept, the marine trade industry, etc.; and
  7. Continue to develop ways to work with the all the citizens in the Town to promote an atmosphere of respect and cooperation among elected officials, Town employees, and residents and taxpayers.
